She continued her education at Villanova University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Following her undergraduate studies, Dr. Cavanagh attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), now part of Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.

Dr. Cavanagh continued her advanced education by completing a three-year specialty residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, developing expertise in the diagnosis and correction of tooth alignment, bite irregularities, and jaw development.

She also earned a Master’s degree in Oral Biology from the School of Biomedical Sciences, a predecessor of today’s Rutgers School of Graduate Studies.
